Having a valid PAT Testing certificate is essential for business; for your insurance and health and safety.

Did you know that when you make an insurance claim due to an electrical appliance such as a fire or legal action for electric shock your insurers will ask to see a PAT certificate? If you can’t provide that it may deem your insurance null and void.

Getting PAT Tested is considered good practice, and shows that you care about the safety of your employees and customers.

PAT testing can be completed 3 monthly, 6 monthly, annually, every 2, 3, 4 even 5 years dependant on the appliance and the environment – you need us to tell you how often that you need testing – that’s why we recommend a site visit to see your premises, and your environment, before we quote. We also like to meet you. Don’t worry about the 3 monthly, unless you’re on a building site. In most circumstances you will need testing only once every 2-4 years, with some appliances such as kitchen equipment and tools requiring annual tests.

There are pages for schools, public-use buildings, offices (including call centres), construction and property but as a general rule:

• Equipment used by the public, or children, or equipment in a factory requires annual testing. 
• Equipment in a hotel room requires annual testing
• Equipment in ‘damp’ environments such as hair salons, cafe’s, restaurants and pubs require annual testing. 
• Equipment in offices requires testing every 2-4 years

We also PAT test in properties for Landlords and Letting Agents – if you rent out property which has electrical appliances in it, then they need PAT Testing annually or when the tenant changes.
