PAT Testing on Construction Sites – Builders Electrical Equipment – Portable Appliance Testing
Firstly we need to make clear that this page refers to construction sites and those that work on them. If you’re a self employed builder, electrician etc. working at different locations every day then scroll to the bottom of the page.
On a managed construction site certain elements of Health & Safety have to be met. Your Health & Safety Manager will be able to help you with this. However, PAT Testing is one such element.
A construction site can be a dangerous place, and even when managed well, accidents do happen, often caused by electrical appliances. One major cause is trailing extension leads which get snagged or cut and then cause an injury.
Because of the high turnover of workers, and the environment equipment needs to be tested more reguarly – every 3 months.
However, you may have a H&S policy that says otherwise, which you should check. Or tell us who manages the policy and we will contact them directly.
We work closely with a leading Construction Industry Health & Safety Consultancy – Northern Counties Safety Group.
If you’re a builder, electrician, joiner, etc. and you don’t operate on construction sites, annual testing is usually sufficient.
